For those of you who hang around websites such as YouTube, Goggle Videos, MySpace Videos, Metacafe, and Dailymotion, boy do I have a great tool for you! And, it's completely free. It's is called FLVPlayer4Free.
As you may know, the above mentioned websites use the Flash Video (FLV) format to display the videos on their websites. Have you have ever come across a video on any of these websites that you like and would like to download it to your computer? Well FLVPlayer4Free can do it easily for you. You can even paste a YouTube, Goggle Videos, MySpace Videos, Metacafe, or Dailymotion URL into FLVPlayer4Free and play it.
But that's not all that FLVPlayer4Free can do! It can play just about any video file available. To include FLV, MPEG4, DIVX, XVID, MP4, AVI, MPEG, WMV, ASF, MPG, M4V, MKV, DVR-MS, HDMOV, M2TS, M2T, MKT, 3GP, 3G2, 3GPP, 3GP2, MOV, QUICKTIME, RM, RAM, and RMVB video files.
Did I mention that it can take a snap shot of a video frame and save it as JPG, PNG, or BMP file?
Here is what you do to Download and Install FLVPlayer4Free:
- Go http://www.flvplayer4free.com/default.htm and download FLVPlayer4Free (There is no spyware or anything like that in this software. So it is safe to download and install).
- During the installation process you will be asked to install the Video Download Toolbar. You will want to do this. So make sure you check the option that lets you do this.
To Use FLVPlayer4Free To Download Videos From YouTube, Goggle Videos, MySpace Videos, Metacafe, or Dailymotion:
- Start up the Internet Explorer Web Browser. (You cannot use FireFox or any other web browser.
- Go to any of the FLV video websites such as ouTube, Goggle Videos, MySpace Videos, Metacafe, or Dailymotion.
- Find and launch a video you like.
- Press the
button up in the Internet Explorer Toolbar to download the video. You will see a dialog window like the one shown below. Figure 1

- Concurrently with the window you see in Figure 1, you will see another box that will let you name the video you are downloading. Give your video a file name. Take note of the location where your downloaded videos will reside on your computer. In this example, the video that I am downloaded will be placed inside my My Documents folder. You can change download location to anything you like.

- You can click on the
icon in the Internet Explorer toolbar to open up the Video Download folder to where your videos will appear.
How To Play Your Video Files With FLVPlayer4Free
- Start the FLVPlayer4Free Program. Right-mouse-click anywhere on the user panel and select Open MEDIA File.Figure 3
