Fool or No Fool?

I read an article yesterday about a man who was in a Lowe’s Department store who found a wallet that contained over $1000 in cash.  This gentleman turned the wallet into store management, who in turn, contacted the grateful owner.

A few hours later, this same individual (in another store)  found a womans purse containing an unspecified amount of cash, credit cards, drivers license and other important documents. Again, he turned the purse into store management and the purse was shortly returned to the grateful owner.

Newspaper headlines labeled this man a “Fool Twice.” Some people I spoke to also thought him a fool and felt he should have kept the money. Sort of like “Finders Keepers.”

I thought this was ashame.

Here we have an honest citizen who found and returned what did not belong to him, to the rightful and grateful owners. This is behavior that should be commended and rewarded.

I, for one, would have been very grateful if someone found and returned my wallet containing money, credit cards, and other important documents.

Have many of us dropped so low on the morality scale to think what this man did was “foolish?”

As an Internet Marketer, I find that honesty works. You can fool a person once by selling them “junk”, but I guarantee you they will not buy from you again. Your reputation as a dishonest person will quickly permeate the Internet.

Treat your customers as a valuable piece of jewelry; something and someone you will take care of. They will respect and trust you for it. If they trust and respect you, they will purchase from you time and time again.

I tip my hat to that man who saved someone’s holiday.
