Blogging is not dead; not by a long shot.
Blogging is one of the fastest and easiest ways to make money online; whether you monetize your blog using Google Adsense, promoting affiliate programs, selling your own products, or selling advertising on your blog.
I personally like promoting affiliate programs because of the high payout as opposed to Google Adsense. You will find tons of products to promote over at Clickbank.
My recommendation is to start your blog by:
- Getting your own domain name; do not use any of those free domain services.
- Getting a good and reliable hosting account. I highly recommend GoDaddy.
- Installing the free WordPress blog script on your domain; Do not use hosted blogs.
- Going to Clickbank Marketplace and find good affiliate programs to promote.
GoDaddy makes the task of installing and setting up your blog very easy.
These are just the basics.
You will want to optimize your blog for visitor readership, set up an email subscription form, place affiliate links and banners, and promote your blog and drive traffic to it.

You are correct. However, you will not make much money from them because you do not have full control over your blog. The initial investment to start a website – especially a WordPress self-hosted blog – is very small; less than $20. This includes your own domain name and hosting account.
